Department Activities from 2009 - 2017

  1. CONSTRUCTO a departmental technical program was conducted on 26.04.2017.
  2. Dr.Inguva Gopinath, Ex.Director ISRO, Bangalore has delivered technical talk on "Indian Space Odyessey-its importance in engineering field for many projects" on 10/03/2017.
  3. Civil Engineering Deptamental students and staff has participated in the Shilpi cricket cup organized by BAI Mysuru during 23-24 February 2017 and runners up in the tournament. Sri Vikas Gowda, awarded as the best bowler and Madan kumar G.R as best batsman of the tournament.
  4. Padmashree Sri.Girish Bharadwaj Proprietor Ayasshilpa, (Sculptures in steel) Gandhinagara, Sullia, Karnataka delivered a talk on "Design and implementation of suspension foot bridges for rural connectivity" on 18.02.2017.
  5. Site visit to metro construction at Bangalore was arranged on 11.03.2017 for 6th sem students along with Prof H.J.Ningaraju, Dr.H.J.Puttabasavegowda and Dr.Gopisiddappa.

  30. Fourth semester Civil Engineering students has participated and won Vinyas cricket cup organized by the department during 20-27March 2014

  32. Dr. S.K.Prasad, Prof of Civil Engineering in SJCE Mysuru has delivered a technical seminar on: "Relevance of Earthquake in Construction Industry"
  33. Civil Engineering Dept students and staff has participated and won the Shilpi cricket cup organized by BAI Mysuru during 23-24 February 2013. Sri Vijay R Bharadavaj, national cricket player was the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony.
  34. Prof. S.B. Boregowda and Prof. D.S. Sandeep Kumar accompanied students to Varahi Hydroelectric power plant and Mangalore port during February 2013.

  40. Civil Engineering Dept has organized a week workshop on advanced survey with total station during 29th July to 3rd August 2013 attended by the staff of various colleges and students.
  41. Engineer's day was celebrated by the department on 15th September 2013
  42. Civil Engineering Dept organized World tourism day during 23-24 September 2013. Mr. Kumarswamy, Ranganath C.P. Manju. M, Kiran A and Nagarjungowda B.S and others were actively involved.
  43. Sri Lenin Das, Assistant manager, Ultra- Tech cements delivered a technical talk on Special conference in Concrete Technology on 24th October 2013.
  44. Dr. Ramalingaiah, Director, PET, Mandya and Sri N .Ramesh guided the students on Carrier opportunity and How to prepare for IAS, KAS and other competitive exams.
  45. 1984 (FYS and NSS) Batch celebrated Centre for Advanced studies and training and Golden Jubilee celebrations of the institution and was participated by the alumni of the department.
  46. BAI. Mysore and CADD station technologies Pvt Ltd., Mysore organized internship for the final year students during 4-27 July 2013.
  47. Internship training was held for final year students on "Sustainable development" organized by BAI, Mysore and CREDAI Mysore centre during 14-15th July 2013.
  48. Civil Engineering Dept students and staff has participated and won the Shilpi cricket cup organized by BAI Mysuru during 25-27 February 2012.
  49. Our students participated in skit performance organized at MSRIT, Bangalore on 12th March 2012 and won the prize.
  50. Mr. Akshay has participated in National Conference shelter 12, held at SIT, Tumkur during 19th March 2012.
  51. Civil Engineering Department has organized Civil Expo- 2012 during 12-13 April 2012 and was attended by the students in large.
  52. BAI. Mysore organized internship for the final year students during July 2012.
  53. Alumni meet 2012 was celebrated by the department during September 2012 and about 600 alumni of civil engineering attended.
  54. Engineer's day was celebrated by the department on 15th September 2012
  55. Our students have participated in Inter College quiz competition organized by BAI Mysuru during October 2012.
  56. Prof. S.B Boregowda and Prof, Gopisiddappa accompanied students to Shirke group and water treatment plant, Bangalore in a technical visit during November 2012.
  57. Civil Engineering Dept students and staff visited Mysore ready mix plant and water treatment plant, Mysuru during November 2012.
  58. Civil Engineering department has organized VINYAS -11, a technical and cultural program during 25-26 March 2011
  59. BAI Mysuru organized a technical talk on Building construction methodologies during 7th May 2011 and our students got benefitted.
  60. Alumni meet 2010 was organized during May 2010 which was sponsored by 1982 batch graduated students. Topper Sujatha in B.E and Lakshmi P.S in M.Tech was honoured.
  61. Department conducted a program on Total station during 5-7 August 2011 for the students.
  62. M.N. Ramesh gave a technical talk on "Corrosion of steel in concrete Structures" and 1972 batch alumni Sharif Ahmed, railway contractor was honoured on Engineers day 15 September 2011.
  63. Our students visited Banglaore METRO, PSC Casting yard, Harishabavathi wastewater treatment plant sponsord by BAI Mysore on 1st October 2011.
  64. On 6 October 2011, Vijayadhshami day, foundation stone laying ceremony of alumni building was held which was facilitated by Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah, President PET Mandya
  65. Our students Hemantkumar and Naren won the First place in state level at Bangalore and second place in interstate Quiz competitions organized by Dalmia cements at Chennai on November 2011.
  66. VINYAS-10 was organized in the department during 29-30 March 2010. More than 250 students participated from various colleges.
  67. A technical Lecture was arranged on "Quality in construction" by M.S. Sudhrasan T.R. F.I, Bangalore on 23rd May 2010 during the occasion of Alumni meet 2010. The second alumni meet was sponsored 1980 batch alumni batch civil engineering students. Professors Mahalingachar, Prof., N.T. Chaluvegowda, Dr. B. Chandrashekar ,Prof. Jogigowda, Dr. B. Shivalingaiah, Sri. Venkataswamy, Prof J.Veeregowda, Prof. Shivanajegowda, Prof. K.Palani, Prof Riyaz Ahmed and Prof.S.Papanna were honored during this occasion.
  68. Workshop on Technical issues was conducted for 5th semester civil students during 20-22 July 2010.
  69. On Engineer's day 15 September 2010 L. Lingaiah (1968), retired executive engineer was honored. Umesh B Rao., delivered a technical talk on "Long span structures"
  70. Students and staff attended the cultural programme organized by BAI, Mysore Centre during 20-21 November 2010.
  71. On 24 November 2010, Students scoring highest marks in "Concrete Technology" was honoured with cash prize. Chandramouleshwar from Ultratech Cements delivered a talk on "Challenges in Deep Excavation"
  72. First Alumni meet of the department was celebrated on 10 May 2009. Dr. H.D. Chowdaiah president PET Mandya, Former Principals Professor B.L. Srinivasamurthy and Dr. Ramalingaih and Sri, Bheemegowda, a first alumni (1967) of the department were honoured by the Alumni Association.
  73. Department conducted a "Career Guidance" Workshop for Final year students in collaboration with builders association of India during 20- 22 July 2009.
  74. Engineer's day was celebrated on 15 September 2009. Sri. S.L. Shivaprasad (1970) retired chief engineer of Karnataka power corporation, was honoured by the alumni Association followed by a technical talk by Dr. B.R. Sreenivasamurthy, Professor IISc. Bangalore on "Some case studies of Geo Technical Engineering.
  75. Dr. B. Shivalingaiah, an alumni gave a talk on "Global warming" 31 October 2009.
  76. Engineer's Day was celebrated 15 September 2008. Dr. Hanumegowda, an Alumni and principal, John College of Engineering was honoured along with Prathima V. 5th rank holder. Dr. C.S. Vishwanath, Director, Civil Aids, Bangalore was the chief guest. The function was followed by technical seminar on rehabilitation.
