Activities held in the Mechanical Dept. PESCE Mandya


  • The inaugural function for the 1st year students was held on 27th September, 2008. Shri Pankaj Shah, Zonal Co-Ordinator, South Zone, Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), inaugurated the function. On the occasion, the student chapter of ISHRAE was also formally inaugurated. At present the student chapter has 47 members.
  • A training course on Catia V5 was conducted on weekends and government holidays. The training commenced on 7th March 2009 and around 20 students had joined the course.
  • Sri. D.Siddiah and Sri. H.C.Ramesh Memorial Cricket Tournament 2008 organized by the Mechanical dept. saw the participation of 32 teams from all departments of the college. The finals concluded on 10th March, 2008 with the team from Computer Science dept. emerging as winners.
  • Mecholites-09, a state level technical paper presentation was held on 21st March, 2009. Dr. K.V.A. Balaji, Registrar, VTU, Belgaum inaugurated the function. Out of close to 100 entries, from various engineering colleges in Karnataka, 45 papers were selected under Design, Production and Thermal streams. The event was very successful and prizes worth Rs. 20,000/- were given away.
  • Department sports were held on 16th and 17th May, 2009. The competitions were held in Cricket, Football, Volleyball, Shuttle Badminton and Table Tennis. Students of the department actively participated in it.
  • Farewell function was organized for the Final year students on 3rd June, 2009. Shri G.B. Shivakumar, Ex MLA/MLC, Mandya gave the valedictory address. Cultural events were held. Mementos were also given to the students who had topped in the semester exams.

Activities undertaken by students of Mechanical Dept., PESCE Mandya

A team participated in the Robotics event called Robosapeins held as a part of Cognizance’08, an annual tech fest of IIT Roorkee from 28th March to 30th March, 2008. There were close to 100 teams which participated in this event. The team was able to reach the quarterfinals (top 8) after three rounds of the event (two of which were knockout rounds). In the quarterfinals it lost by 6 points. Overall the team stood in the 5th rank.

A team participated in the Robotics event called Deep Purple held as a part of Techniche08, an annual techno-management fest of IIT Guwahati from 5th September to 7th September, 2008.

A team participated in the Robotics event called Emergency Exit held as a part of Shaastra 2008, an annual tech fest of IIT Madras from 1st October to 5th October, 2008. The team was first shortlisted on the basis of Team Description Paper(TDP) out of close to 300 entries from all over India. It was ranked 23rd out of the 50 teams selected.

Industry Institute Partnership Cell Report IIPC Secretary:

The main objective of this Cell of our college is as liaison centers between industries and various Departments of the institute for activities which are mutually beneficial.
The major activities of the IIP cell are
  1. To maintain coordination, promotion of Consultancy services, establishment of proper links with the Industries.
  2. Encourage Industry to collaborate in Industry Study Tour Programme (ISTP)/Intern ship Programme, assist Placement cell in placement of the students in Industries
  3. Conducting of Industrial Training and Industrial Visits for the students and faculty
  4. Exchange of personnel between the industries and Institute by way of involving Industry Personnel in delivering lecturers on latest technological growth, evaluation of project work, and other academic work in the Institute.
